HOME RULE.

IRELAND QUIET. By Electric Telegraph. —Tress Association. —Copyright. (Times. —Sydney Sun Service.) LONDON, May 27. Fears of dir. vder in Ulster last night as t'.e result of Nationalist jubilation over passing of the Home Rule Bill wi re not realised. Londonderry never passed a more peaceful evening. There was a good deal of light-hearted promenading in the main street.

Everywhere else Ireland was as quiet as a village graveyard. It was, however, an armed stillness. There was no rejoicing of any sort excepting a little band-playing in a few southern towns.

In Dublin one public-house was illuminated, the people being more concerned over the Derby winner. The lack of enthusiasm is attributed to the feeling that the end is not yet. The Nationalists fear the Bill will be ineffective except upon a basis of permanent partition.

"ONLY ONE WAY OUT." Received 10.20 p.m. LONDON, May 28. Lord Dunraven in a letter to tin Times says there is only one way out of the Home Rule impasse and that is by Government dropping the Bill and calling an Irish Convention representing all the parties when the Commons is in recess to draft a new Bill. Ulster would then have no logical excuse to refuse to contribute the ideas on Irish self-government.

THE UNIONISTS' DUTY. Received 11.45 p.m. '1 .ONDON, May 28. Lord Selborne says if the Unionists are confronted with the dilemma: "Will you have Home Rule .for a moment with civil war or without it' their clear duty is to say without war.''
