OUR TOURING PREMIER.
Press Association.—By Telegraph. FATRLIE, March 31. The Premier arrived at Timaru this afternoon and was accorded a reception by the Mayor. After lunch the Premier left Timaru for Fairlie and en route started the new clock and chimes at Pleasant Point. He was entertained by the residents and was aeeorded a hearty reception. A deputation waited on him in regard to improvements at the railway station and a deputation also waited on him at Fairlie in regard to various local matters, after which McKenzie County Council entertained him at dinner. The health of Government and the Premier was enthusiastically responded to. In proposing the health of local bodies, Mr Massey acknowledged the great good publie bodies did and thought some recognition should be made of the long service rendered by individual members. A large meeting afterwards, in the Public Hall, accorded the Premier an attentive hearing. Mr Massey touched on many topics dealt with in previous speeches. He took the pledges given by himself in his Welington Town Hall speech as showing that in practically all instances the Party's pledges had been carried out and where they had not already been fulfilled it was not the Party's fault. These matters would have attention next session. The points dealt with were land legislation, reform of the Upper House, immigration, public service reform, native lands, old age, veterans, and widows' pensions, •finance, industrial peace and workers' dwellings. A motion of thanks and confidence was carried by an over whelming majority, a Red Fed amendment being howled down.
