AIRMAN'S MAGIC.
YOUNG AUSTRALIANS' PEATS.
WATCHED BY THE KING.
The interest of the afternoon at Gowes says the Daily News of August 4 was materially enhanced by the graceful and daring antics of a new seaplane, pilote i by Mr Harry Hawker, a young Australian, who seems to be able to do any thing he likes in the air. He was flying a new Sopwith plane, which was handed over later in the same evening to the Admiralty. He did the most amazing things with it He flew out from the mouth of the Medina River when the Victoria and Albert was abont t»:ree miles away, and when this remarkable seabird was close over Royal yacfct she cnrtseyed most prettily, swerved and then flew round the snip in narrowing circles, humming melodiously, for all the world like a bee buzzing round a flower. Then she afignted with scarce a splash and walked the waters like a thing of life The King was on the bridge at her coming, watching her evolutions though a long telescope. He sent f r the Qaeen and Princess Mary, who were below. They immediately joined him on the bridge. The agile seaplane rose again, anrt, calmly cutting out the business of t e Trinity yao t Irene, whose established privilege it is to lead the way on tnese occasions of oceanic State, prou Uy hea-ed the ! procession into the Road, perform- | ed more circas tricks over the uea s of the enraptured spectators, am | then gracefully retire ', , bowing ! again—the politest ami tne most I accomplishe i lady of the air you j could imagine.
