Two brother, Robert and James Steele, were lined £3 each on the evidence of Constable Catwell at the Magistate's Court on Monday for using obscene language at Otira. A sequel occurred on the same afternoon, when the constable, while going to Greymouth station, was accosted by the brothers, who kuocked him down and brutally assaulted him. At the Couit to day both «ere sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour
Another brother, Hugh, was fined £5 for inciting the two brothers to resist, and himself obstructing the police during the same occurrence.
