FARMERS' UNION.
EXECUTIVE MEETS. A meeting of the Wellington Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held at Palnierstoa North, on Thursday, 'iith inst. Mr J. G. Wilson, president, presided. The pollution of Water Bill which came before Parliament lust session, but was not put through the final stages owing to pressure of business and which is expected to be again brought up in the early stages of the coming session, was gone into, and in order to ascertain the effect the Bill would heve on the farming community, a sub-committee was set up to go into the matter and report at next meeting the result of their investigations. Rifle matches and their control was considered and suggestion is to be made to the Defence Department that they supervise competitions. A resolution was passed pf sympathy with the objects of the coachbuilders now in conference at Wellington, in endeavouring to obtain reduction ofrailwav rates on imported timber, and that the resolution be forwarded to the Coachbuilders Conference. The following remit was passed for the Provincial Conference to be held at Masterton on May 27: That railway charges will never be satisfactory until they are made uniform throughourthe Dominion at per ton per mile according to cost of traction.
