BOWLING.
The secietary of the Terrace End Club has received a communication from the Newton Club asking for three rinks to play their team touring through the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts at Easter. It has been decided to accede to their request to play on Good Friday morning. Two rinks from the Feilding Club will also visit Terrace End the same day. In the Terrace End Bowling Club's tournament Hancock and F. Shortt meet Jones and Martin for the final of the club pairs. Claughton and R. Sollitt Dlay off for the final of the club singles. On Wednesday last the Manawatu Ferns were taken from Terrace End by Levin, by 19 to IS, the winners being Suhan, Henderson, Glackin and Grover (skip). Up to February 26tli there have been CO contests for the Dixon Cup and Taser Feathers. Palmerston North Club heads the list with 20 wins, viz., Tasker's team, 18 wins; C. Smith's team, 2 wins. Feilding comes next with 19 wins—Saywell (skip), 10 wins; C. Bartholomew (skip), 9 wins. Terrace End has 6 wins, 3 each to Turner and Sollitt's teams; Paihatua, 5 wins, Masterton 4 wins, Dannevirke 3 wins, Shannon 2 wins, Marton 1 win. Levin has tried twice to win the above, Otaki four times, and Woodville six times, but were unsuccessful each time. One of the finest games seen for a long time was played on the Palmerston green yesterday, when J. Young and W. Crump met in the handicap finals. Crump had 4 points handicap. Young caught him before they had gone very far, and the game stood 16 all. After that Crump gradually drew away, and won. - In the Dixon Cup contests the following team will represent Palmerston against Terrace End tomorrow :—L. Seifert, A. Harries, W. L. Scott, and J. Young. The Easter tournament promises to be a great success. Pahiatua have already entered and there have been numerous enquiries. Large entries are expected.
