GENERAL COMMITTEE. ! —• I A meeting of the General Comr mittee of the A. and P.- Association was held yesterday, and attended I by Messrs T. R. Holder (president), .J. M. Slack, Wilde, j Lethbridge, Levett, R. S. Abraham, i R Stevens. ■ It was decided to join with the private entertainment companies . I in asking the Borough Council to I reduce the license fees. It was ■ pointed out that £lO license was paid for the skating rink for five months' use. The letting of the skating rink for next season was referred back to the . Ground Committee. In the checking of the records of the turn-stiles the register of the . machines is run back to zero before ' starting for use. A letter was now received from Messrs Rutherfurd and r Connell, auditors, offering to run ' back the machine for a fresli start each day if desired. After an ex--1 planation of Major Dunk it was I decided to consider the offer for the next show, i An offer was received from Mr J. b Hooker to print the catalogues for ; the next show in return for the i right to take advertisements for it, and also offering to canvass at a 4 commission. The offer was favour--5 ably reoeived and referred to a l committee. It was reported that the bank had 1 agreed to an increase of the over- [ draft limit fiom £6OOO to £6500. The question of le-approaching the Borough Council to get a reduction of the general rate was 1 discussed. Mr Pickoring said a certain townsman had asserted that the Association could not be compelled to pay rates on its reserve and offered a sovereign to get legal advice on the point. The offer was accepted, and a committee was appointed to meet the Council, consisting of Messrs Lancaster, Sutherland, Gillies, Johnston, and Major Dunk. Messrs Albert Riokard and W. Kells wrote complaining that photographs at the last show were shown with the exhibitors' names attached. The matter was referred to committee to be'dealt with. Mr J. Hoult asked for a refund of his deposit of £1 0s 6d on his protest against a winning horse in the draught classes on the ground that it was substantiated, the judge admitting the existence of the swelling, but saying it,was a natural growth. The request was granted.
