BIG MEETING FAVOURS THE SCHEME. * A largely attended meeting of rotepayats took place last evening to consider the subject of electric' lighting. The Mayor, Mr E. Goodbehere, presided aud outlined ttie scheme, Or Harford giving farther details and relating instances where electric lighting waß being profitably run in competition with gas. The following motion was oarried unanimously on the motiou of Mr Trewin seconded by Mr John Oobbe, that this meeting of ratepayers considers the time oppoit.nne for the iuore efficient lighting of the Borongh aud that electrio lighting is the system most adapted to the needs of the Borough, and recommends the Oounoil to submit a pioposal to the vote of the ratepayer at an early date sub- i jeot to the Oounoil prior to the poll '■ obtaining a confirmatory estimate of ' the cost of installation and upkeep from an expert electrician.
