HALF-HOLIDAY ASSOCIATION.

CORONATION DAY AND THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR* A meeting of the-Half-Holiday Association was held;in the Oounoil Oliambais yesterday. After hearing the views of representatives of various businesses as to the Frinoe of Wales' Birthday and Coronation Day it was reßolved, on the motion of Mr VYallaoe, to close all day on Thursday (Coronation Day) and keep open on Wednesday and Friday. SHEFFIELD OHOIR. On the motion of Mr Malcolm it was decided to rescind the previous proposition re closing from 12.80 to 3.30 on 30th Jnne for the Sheffield Choir. After some disonsaion Mr Wallace pointed ont that the decision to olose had been com* to on the understanding that both vooal and instrumental items be given. It was finally proposed by Mr Wallace, seconded by Mr Pees, that the shopkeepers of Palniei&ton agreed to close tlieir premises for the visit of the Sheffiold Choir from 12.30 to 3.30 on Friday, June 30th, on the understanding that the concert to be given by them was to be both vocal aud instrumental, since it has been decided net to s?nd the orchestra the shopkeepers decline to olese unless they adhere to the promise given by the lccnl secretry.
