A FAIR TRIAL WANTED.

CANTERBURY FARMERS AND DAIRY REGULATIONS. (Press Association). Ohiistohurch, Last Night. Al the annual conference of the South Island Branoh of the National Dairy Assooiatiou, held to-day at, Lyttelton, refeience was made by the chairman, Mr John Barnet, to the dairy regnlations. In the course of his remarks Jie said that with very few alterations dairymen were prepared to accept the regulations, but the most important point was as tc liow the inspection was to be carried out. The inspector should not be a man riding the high horse. He must not come to daiiymen as a constable, because* if he did so, it would spell rain to the industry. He contended that country dairymen should not be expected to conform to the same conditions as those in the vicinity of towns who got a much highei price for their milk. He' recognised that there waß yet a want, for sometimes cream came in whioh was not all it should bo. If the Department could be got to carry out the the inspection on the lines suggested he thought it would be a boon to the dairy farmers of the Dominion. The meeting unanimously deoided that the dairy regulations should be given a fair trial.
