FEILIDNG HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The Feilding Horticultural Society's annual Show took place yesterday,'and from every aspect was a thorough success. The entries were greater in number than last year, and from a quality point of view could not be excelled. Messrs Weightman had a magnificent display of rose blooms tastefully arrayed that would have done credit to any show in the Dominion. Messrs H. B. Just and Wighton, other well-known nurserymen of Palmerston, made a very creditable display of pot plants, whioh were much admired by visitors to the show. Mr Just's collection comprised English ferns, Japanese fern balls, petunias, aspadistras, and many other beautiful specimens oi flowering plants. Local exhibitors were well to the fore, Mr Brown, of Kimbolton road, having some rare plants on show including a pine apple plant, and Todia fern, while Mr J. H. Scott whose name has become famous as a cactus grower had numerous varieties of this plant on exhibition. The show in the vegetable and fruit classes was a good one, the potatoes being a particularly fine lot entirely free from defect. The vegetables could be classed as exceptionally good taking into consideration the weather experienced this season, while the fine display of cherries, gooseberries, strawberries and other delicious fruits testified in no small degree to the care and attention bestowed by horticulturists in bringing the fruits named to suoh a state of perfection. Mrs N. E. Barton the hon. secretary, deserves a meed of praise for the energetic manner in which she oarried out her duties. Mesdames Oobbe, Sherwill, Barltrop, O. Fitzherbert, Prior, Aylmer, Lennan, Luxmore, Sorley, Misses Lethbridge, Rose (2), Luxmore, Messrs A. R. Mayo, H. Sopp, Worsfold, E. Hicks, D. Williamson, J. Oobbe, O Fitzherbert, Dr. Sorley (president), and Rev. G. Budd deserve to be complimented for the assidous manner in which they worked to make the affair a success. Valuable assistance was also given by the twelve vicepresidents of the society. The attendance was not very large during the day but the hall was packed to suffocation during the evening. An ecxellent programme of music was rendered during the evening. The society made one fatal mistake, and that is issuing their schedule in one single sheet aa an inset through a newspaper instead of in book form as they did until recently. The unfortunate part of it is that a newspaper inset is not taken any notice of by a large section of the community and the writer personally could give many instances where exhibi-!

tors were lost iu consequence. Appended are the results:—
