RECLAIMING EVANS' BAY.

Per Press Association

Wellington, Dec. 3

It is considered practically certain that the proposal which has been before the comuiitteo of the City Council and the Harbour Board to reclaim a wide area of Evan's Bay will be taken up shortly, and evenually carried to a successful issue. The idea is to win from the sea at the head of Evan's Bay land suitable for the carrying on of industries requiring considerable ground space.

The scheme involves the reclamation of over a hundred acres, with the erection of wharves, facilities for boat-building, etc.

The Harbour Board has already agreed to do so.

It is expected that the Coy. will go to considerable expense in adding a wharf and improved appliances, as the site is close to that portion of Evans' Bay which is to be reclaimed.

The Wellington papers hint that the purchase foreshadows the removal of the Union Coy.'s headquarters to Wellington.
