COLLISION IN A FOG.

Beuter's San Francisco correspondent states that the small steamer San .Pedro, laden with lumber, collided at midnight on Saturday off Eureka in a heavy fcg with the steamer Columbia (2700 tons) oarrying numerous San Francisco passengers. The San Pedro struck the port bow, tearing an Immense hole in the Columbia and the passengers hurried on deok where a wild panic ensued. . . . The Colombia sank in five minutes. A We raft launched saved a few and eight ■were Haved by clinging to the San Pedro. Lloyds states that 100 were drowned and 200 saved by a passing steamer. Other aecounte give the number lost at 160 including the Columbia's captain. ' One story states that every woman perished.
