THE WAY NOT TO.
(To the Editor.)' Sir, —I quite agree ~ with Rosa Eugosa's reruai-ks upon the subject of the horticultural section afc the ■comity Winter- Show. Some £12 is to be spent in pnzo money, and yot so little judg--1 rnent has been shown in its allocation that a most uninviting and monotonous Set of competitions is placed before intendinj* exhibitors. Such a, programLne courts failure, and i 3 especially to bo deplored as tending to chock tlio very laudable endeavours of the A. and P. Association to enlarge tho area of interest covered hy its shows. Midwinter is naturally not a very favourable time for flowers and no doubt pot plants must be the main feature of any horticultural display hold at that season: but a far more varied list of. competitions might easily bo , provided than the twelve-pot-six-pot, twelve-pot - six - pot, twelve-pot-six-pot nionotohy which the framers of the schedule seem to have got into their heads.-^-I am, etc., Siberian Crab.
