Mr B. Holben has decided to offer himself as a candidate for the vacancy in the Borough Council.
Captain Alexander, aide-de-camp to the Governor, has received notification of his appointment as Major.
Mr Buxton, of Auckland, who has been appointed Chief Railway Traffic Manager for the colony, in succession to Mr Gaw, at a Balary of £700, has been in the New Zealand Railway Service for 29 years.
At St. Paul's Pro Cathedral, Wellington, yesterday afternoon, Mr Oscar Kember, eldest son of Mr Henry Kember, of Wellington, was married to Miss Amy Pownall, daughter of the late Mr C. J. Pownall, who was for many years a resident of that city.
At St. Rfary'B Ohurcb^ Karori, yesterday, Miss Clara Bul^ley, third daughter ot Mr E. C. BulHley, was married to Mr Fred Didsbury, third Bon of the late MiGeorge Didsbury, late Government Printor.
Constable Dick, who has been transferred to Mokau, whs last night farewelled by his comrades at the local station. He was also presented with a neat gold medal suitably inscribed. Constable Dick leaves this morning. Mr Sidney Fitzherbert, solicitor, whose offices at Feilding were burnt last tsunday morning, lost a carefully, selected library, and also some coi-res-pondence from the late Herbert Spencer, of whose writings he is a fer vent admirer, and which he greatly prissed, • 6 *
