Manawatu Rugby Union.
A meeting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held last evening, there being a full attendance.
The Awahuri Football CJub was permitted to enter senior and junior teams. In the correspondence in which secretaries of Clubs forwarded list of members several complications arose as regards certain names, and the following motion of suggestion to secretaries was carried : That delegates of clubs be, instructed to inform their secretaries that they must haV> a book kept for the purpose in which members were to . certify their bona fide membership by signature. The committee appointed in connection with accident insurance was asked to meet and set the scheme in operation as soon as possible. It was resolved to allocate any credit from the coming sports to form a nucleus of the insurance fund. Judging from the enthusiasm displayed by the members present there is every indication that the gathering will be a most successful one.
It was decided to open the season on the 23rd April with three rounds to be played by the senior and third class teams, and two rounds by the juniors. Messrs Gibbons, Manning and Warden will arrange the fixtures. The Union's delegate to the N.Z.B.F.U. was instructed to advocate very strongly that Manawatu should be visited by the touring English and New South Wales teams. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Bunting for the use of his roms for meetings.
