The Imperial Troops.
The Mayor has received the following telegram from Hon J. G. Ward :—" I note you have made arrangements for luncheon on the pktloun at railway station on Monday. Your proposal to stop tram in the Square on Tue=dav I win have attended to. I will ascertain from Colonel Wynciham if he requires horses, aud will advjsc yci; how iwu,". I have given instructions us you suggest for excursion trains to be run on Tuesday."
The reception of the Imperial troops at Christchuvch yesterday attracted an enormous crowd of people. Nearly aIhousand Canterbury volunteers took I part in the reception. In response to a telegram from Mr I .rani, M.H.E., the General Manager of Eailways has informed him that the troops will arrive at 10.15 a.m. on Monday and 12.30 on Tuesday. On the latter day the trains will stop in the Square. Excursion tickets by the morning trains on Tuesday will be issued. The Mayor has invited the local clergy to be present at the luncheon on Tuesday, and has also invited the Mayors of Pahiatua, Dannevirke, Feeding, Foxton, and Woodville to be present. Mr Haydon also notified the Mayors named that excursion tickets would be issued to Palmerston on the date named. (Press Association.) _ T Napiek, February 9. Very complete ai^angements have been made for the entertainment of the Imperial troops next Thursday. The Mayor has proclaimed a full hoHday. Gisbokne, February 8. The Government have given perrnia«on for 25 men from each of the two local volunteer coips so visit Napier next week to meet the Imperial trdops. loe Government pay the passages of the men, who defray their own expenses ' i Napier. * ■
