IN REPLY TO Mr. V. MONRAD.
To the Editor. Sir,- MpV. Monrad says that immortality " cannot be proved by sober human reason." Are the bounds of human wisdom so well defined that ho nan make this sweeping 1 assertion ? Of course what Mr Monrad deeidss as impossible requires no furtlier invesn'sfation. ' • Again he says " iu-'cr<»nniiqy l^ been forbidden." Is not this beggiug the question, and equal to a tacit acknowledgement, of spirit communion ? and does Mr M. follow other injunctions equally binding, respecting his beard and his garment ? What is termed prophecy and inspiration m the chnrch, amougst the laity becomes necromancy. Had a prophet raised Samuel, it would have been a miracle, but when the woman of Bndor presumes to exercise equal powers, it is termed witchcraft. The same .spirit of intolerance is rampant m the present day, but its power is feeble compared with its intensity. V. M. asks T. R. Walton " not to compare spiritualists to Christ." Why he makes the request I fail to comprehend. Verily he presumes on presumptions ! I am, «fee, Another Lover of Revelation. Feb27, 1884. . .. .
