Wednesday. Murray- Aynsley addressed the electors at Lyttelton last night. He reviewed shortly the events of last Session. In reply to questions put he said he was strongly opposed to , Stout's Local Option Bill,, and would vote for public houses being opened for a short time on Sundays. He was in favour of Secular education, with a nominal charge of 2s 6d per child. or 10s per family. Was not an advocate for compulsory education. A vote of thanks for the address was carried. A vote of confidence was proposed, but after considerable opposition was, at MurrayAynsley's request, withdrawn. ■ ■ Primate and several leading ministers will speak at Stout's meeting re Local Option Bill. Friday. Further reports from the. state that part of the^Albury Branch Railway is damaged by floods.- Other places north and south, have suffered, severely, and in some cases~.it will take several months to repair the dam* ages. ' s A public-meeting re the Local Option 1 ' Bill, was held last night. Being wet there was but a small attendance.The principal speakers were the Rev Primate of New Zealand, Rev H. C. M. -Watson, and Stout, M.H.R. Several resolutions were .unanimously carried. The principal one. being, " That in the opinion of this meeting the embodying in Local Option Bill is equitable, practical, and likely to ' afford public relief from many of the N evils i resulting from the consumption of intoxicating liquor.

tnittees last niglit, resolutions were carried in favor of free compulsory education, the establishment of secondary schools, and larger power being granted to committees. Weather is still wet.
