MANCHESTER HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of tlie above Board was held at the E. and C. Aid Corporation Office, Feilding, on Saturday the 24th February, 1877. "WARDENS PBESENT. Messrs Halcombe (Chairman), Macarthur, Maysmor, Cumming, Bailey, and Linton. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. treasurer's report. The Treasurer reported accounts paid, £20 3s 2d, and a cash balance m hand of £262 9s 6d ; also an estimate of the proportion of the rates on the book for each Ward, for the nine months ending 31st March :— For No. 1 Ward, £88 11s 9d ; for No. 2 Ward, £33 16s s|d ; for No. 3 Ward, £73 17s 9d ; for No. 4 Ward, £67 17s 8d ; for No. 6 Ward, £64 15s ; for No. 6 Ward, £92 16s. Total— £42l l4s 7|d. Resolved, — That the account of the Board be transferred from the Bank of New South Wales, Feilding, to the Bank of Australasia, Palmerston North. The Engineer certified to the completion of the Warwick-street contract, including extra work amounting to £2 14s 6d ; also, to the completion of the Stanway road contract. ACCOUNTS PASSED FOE PAYMENT. The following accounts were passed for payment: — Mrßeattie, for preparing list of sections sold and leased m the district, and for expenses incurred, £4 13s 2d; Messrs Ash worth and Co., for Warwick street contract, with extra work, £23 14s 6d ; Mr Behrendt, for Stanway road contract, £30. TENDERS. The following tenders were received fpr the Rangitawa road contract:—
Messrs J. Behrendt and Rudolph Noffke, £73 9s, declined ; Mollison and Co., £78, do. ; William Heaphy, £62 12s, do. ; Messrs Welch, Gitchard, and Looney, £68, do. ; John Whiskey, £G9, do. ; Carl Wapp and Co., £61 10s, do. ; G. Ashworth and Co., £63 15s, do. ; Jensen and Nielsen, £54 6s, accepted. Resolved, — That the Engineer be instructed to communicate with Mr Cumming and prepare specifications for work m his (Mr Cumming's) Ward, and for the formation of Denbigh street from corner of Camden street to a few chains below Princess street, and for the bridge m Manchester street over the Makino Creek ; also, for the metalling of about 100 chains of Rangitawa road (m sections of about 20 chains), where suitable for procuring the gravel for metalling on sections. Resolved, — That the Engineer be instructed to get the crossing near the Railway Station at Kimbolton road metalled. Resolved, — That the Engineer be instructed to employ a roadman m No. 1 Ward. Resolved, — That the Chairman be requested to communicate with the Government relative to the subsidy to the Board for the three months ending the 30th September, 1876. Resolved, — That the next meeting of the Board be held on Saturday the 10th March, 1877.
