The breaking-up ceremony of the Bunnythorpe School was held on the Recreation Ground, the day being idaal. and there was a good attendance of parents. In the morning a sports programme was held and the committee left nothing wanting to make it a success. Luncheon was provided at midday and was followed by games. At a suitable time Mr C. Stevens (chairman of the School Committee) presented the prizes and before doing so congratulated Mr Abraham and his staff on the past year, thanking all who had assisted in donations and prizes and impressing on the scholars to give their best always. Mr Abraham briefly acknowledged the remarks. The prize list is:—Dux. of school (medal annually donated by Mr Scheldt) : Wallace Currie; runner-up (trophy donated by Mrs Abraham), Joan Pedersen. Special prizes (donated by Miss Scheldt) : Excellence in sewing, senior girls, Noreen Harris; junior, Helen Donald. Excellence in woodwork: Senior boys, Ken Vautier. Excellence in handwork : Middle division, Barry Houghton; junior, Hugh Montgomery and Aileen Butler. Swimming trophies (donated by Mr R. Cleveley): First boy in learners' class to swim length of baths, Roy Harris; girl, June Smith. Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Club prizes: Care and attention : Senior, Ken Vautier 1, Brian Townley 2; junior, Hugh Montgomery 1, Garth Montgomery 2. Dairy type: One class, Barry Houghton 1, K. Mrs Pascoe has left for Tauranga. Mr Gee and Mr and Mrs Cater are on holiday in Auckland.
