COSTUMES AT AWAPUNI
Early morning showers and unusually cold weather conditions for this time of the year caused most women to wear spryig costumes and suits on the first day of the Manawatu Itacing Club's summer meeting at Awapuni yesterday. When heavy rain later developed raincoats, umbrellas, and heavy shoes were a necessity until later in the afternoon when the sun made a belated appearance. Racing enthusiasts from far and hear enjoyed a buffet lunch and afternoon tea at which the president Mr H. 11. Cooper, assisted by Mrs Cooper, who wore a green frock with black coat and hat, presided.
