Mjs N. James, who was the guest:of Mrs A. E. Gardner, Park Road, Palmerston North, returned to Wanganui last night. Miss N. Ada Partridge, of Palmerston North, is convalescing at her parents' home in Wanganui, after being a hospital inmate for the past month. Miss K. L. Glen of Gisborne, has been appointed to the position of librarian of the Hastings Public Library following the resignation of Misa W. H. Vyner. Of the eight applicants for this position half were men. The entire trousseau of an Auckland girl, which included household linen, blankets, and clothing, was destroyed when a fire occured at her mother's residence. The owner is engaged to an American serviceman and intended to take her trousseau to America. War widows and their children were guests at a party held in the grounds of Government House, Auckand, recently. His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, who is patron of Heritage, and Lady Newall greeted over 140 mothers and 230 children who attended the function.
