RIDER FOR SLEEPY FOX
(Rec. 1.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 5. D. Mum-o has been engaged to ride Shannon in the Epsom Handicap. It ■was earlier reported that Munro would ride Sleepy Fox in the bis mile race. Mr B. Payten. the trainer of Sleepy Fox, said Munro's acceptance of the Shannon mount would not be interpreted as an indication that the New Zealand champion would not run. Munro is the leading rider for Mr Payten's stables and it was generally assumed he would ride Sleepy Fox in the Epsom should that gelding start. Mr Payten said, however, that Munro v/as tree to choose from the mounts offered him. Mr Payten added that lie expected Munro to ride Sleepy l'ox in the Chelmsford Stakes next Saturday. "Should it be decided to start Sleepy Fox in the Epsom I have no doubt that we will be able to get a suitable jockey." . The New Zealand visitors, Immediate and High Play, were exercised at Randwick yesterday. Both have engagements for the Kosehill Club s meeting on September 15, Immediate in the Camellia Stakes and High Play in the Highweight Handicap.
