AUGUST 24, 1915. An American correspondent at Mudros predicted an early collapse of the Turks on Gallipoli as a result of the successful landing at Suvla Lay by the Allies. The main lines of communication with Constantinople had been captured in the landing. Upward of 100,000 Turks were cut off.

Violent fighting was still progressing in the Alsace area where a number of fierce German attacks had been beaten off. In battles against Austria, Italy had captured 3000 square miles in, the Friuli, Cadore and Trontino districts. Fierce fighting was still continuing.
