CITY SILVER BAND

At the monthly meeting of the committee of the City Silver Band. Mr 11. Belgrave was in the chair. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr T. R. Iloddor. All uniforms have been renovated. The conductor (Mr O’Hara) reported that the soloists and quartettes preparing for the Wanganui competitions were making excellent progress. Two new members bad joined tbe band, one from Tirnaru and one from the Trentham Band. The final of a series of three competitions, to determine tbe band championship was h<;Ul on Monday. A large number of visitors ami supporters were present, including members of the Salvation Army and Palmerston North Garrison Band. Mr Cowlishaw, of Palmerston North, was the adjudicator. The band championship and Boyce Shield were won by V. Belgrave. the runner-up being .N. Anderson. 'J'he Low Cup for slow melody, and the O’Hara Cup for hymn test, were won by V. Belgrave, the runner-up again being N. Anderson in each case. The Ileatley Modal for highest aggregate under J 6 years was won by R. Belgrave, with O. Dnlby runner-up. The medal for non-pre-vious medallists was won by L. Lacey. Mr Belgrave thanked all present for their attendance, and Mr Cowlishaw for his good work.
