WOMEN’S WORLD

(By “Nanette”.)

Princess Margaret llose, the younger daughter of the King and Queen, celebrated her 15th birthday on Tuesday. She was the first Royal heir ■to be born in Scotland for more than 300 years, her birthplace being Glaniis Cast'le, the home of the Karl and Countess of Strathmore, the Queen’s parents. Princess Margaret llose is four years younger than the heir-pre-sumptive to the Throne, Princess Elizabeth. Sirs A. J. Hunt, of Ferguson Street, is visiting Auckland to meet her daugh-ter-in-law, Mrs John Hunt, who is expected to arrive from Sydney tomorrow. An inquiry had already been initiated, stated the Minister of Healtli (Mr Nordineyer) in a written reply to a question by Mr P. G. Connolly (Lab., Dunedin West) as to whether his attention had been drawn to the report of a recent inquest in Christchurch in which it was alleged that a midwife had administered chloroform to a woman in confinement, as a result of which the patient had died. For one girl prisoner of Belsen Camp happiness blossomed out of the horror, culminating in her marriage to a British relief worker. She was Miss Toni Sucliecks, of Sackopanc, Poland, and the bridegroom was Mr Edward Quattrucci, of Carshalton, Surrey, a member of the lied Cross Commission, who did valuable work in the early days at the camp. The ceremony took place in a small church within the grounds, before the camp was destroyed by Allied flame-throwers. The couple met at Belsen Camp, Miss Suchecks having been a prisoner for more than four years. Her father and brother were also held captive. S.S. men shot her father before the inmates.were rescued, and she believes her brother is dead also.
