EXTRACTS FROM " STANDARD," AUGUST 22, 1915.
Italy had declared war on Turkey. German messages stated it was felt that the fate of the Dardanelles had been scaled by Italy's action. Commander Lay ten. Ihc skipper of the English submarine Fl 3 which ran aground ofl the Dutch coast, had reported that when his crow were abandoning their vessel the Germans had fired on them, killing six and wounding two. In a battle in the Gulf of Riga, the Germans had lost, the super Dreadnought Moltke, three cruisers, and seven torpedo destroyers. Four German, troopships had tried to land near Pcrnovin, but had been repulsed. The landing force had been exterminated.
