REHABILITATION
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Through the courtesy of your columns I wish to make a protest concerning the recent appointment of a secretary to the Palmerston North Metropolitan Milk Board, whereby exservicemen's applications were passed over. To those of us with husbands who gave up their business practices to go overseas and are now in the unenviable position of rehabilitating themselves without Government assistance, with the responsibilities of a home and family to consider, it is a bitter pill to see men—no doubt worthy- step into full or part time jobs which would mean so much to the returned men. At the same time 1 would like to point out that two members of the above board who were instrumental in making the appointment are also serving on the Rehabilitation Committee. Lip service is not sufficient. It is essential if the peace promises are kept that gratitude be expresescd in a practical manner.—Yours, etc.. EX-SERVICEMAN'S AVIFE.
