DEFAULTERS’ APPEALS

Additional reserved decisions in defaulters’ appeals for release from detention were announced by the ho. 2 Revision Authority (Mr W. H. 'Woodward. S.M.) yesterday. «Ln 15 cases the Authority recommended release, and 12 applications were refused. In the decisions announced to date the Authority lias recommended release in 41 cases and has refused 111 appeals. The following were the decisions announced yesterday:— For release.—W. J. The Authority heard appeals yesterday by Bernard James Giles, chiropractor and X-ray technician, of Auckland (whose behaviour and work in camp, it was stated, had been very good) and Alan Preston Graham, clerk, of Auckland (whose work and behaviour also had been very good). In each case decision was reserved.

Applications considered in the a.ftemoon were Joseph G. Billings, aged 24, litter and turner of the Railway Department, Auckland, a member of tlie Christian Assemblies. It was stated that bis work and conduct in camp had been very. good. He had been an exemplary man in detention throughout the whole of his term there.

Robert Melhuish Tidman, aged 26, single, clerk, of Auckland, also said lie was a member of the Christian Assemblies. It was stated that bis work and conduct while in camp bad been very good. Ernest Robert Anderson, aged 34, gardener, of Christchurch, said he was a Presbyterian. His work and conduct in camp wore reported as very good. Decisions wore reserved.
