At flic July meeting of the women’s sec non of the National Party, Mrs W. l'\ Field presided over an excellent attendance. Mrs Bridon-Jones carried out the secretarial dutios in the absence of Mrs D. Black. A new member, Airs Moffatt, late of Otaki, was welcomed. Airs Biiclen-Jones, for the. electorate committee, ’outlined a good programme of activities to be carried out in the near future. Mrs Everiss, convener for the bridge afternoons, reported on a successful "function, held during the month and gratitude was expressed to the donors of the prizes. Aliss Warburton, for the National Club, stressed the importance of members giving the club their financial support, as the club is of great use to the party, and as the ejection year is now approaching the club will be a great asset when (be campaign commence.-,. Airs Watckorn, secretary of the war work section, had on display a. splendid array of gaiments which bad been made for dispatch to England in the 111 b parcels. Of special mention were some beautiful little baby sets enclosed in white muslin bags tied with ribbon, which had been a labour of love by a member of the sewing circle. Such a display brought home to members the wonderful work that, was done by this small section on behalf of the National Party members. Airs Field reported on the recent annual meeting of (lie Wellington division of the National Party, at which she was a delegate. The report was interesting, especially the reference (o the addresses by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Holland) and Air W. J. Sim, K.C.. Dominion president of the party. Airs Field was thanked for her comprehensive report. Airs Black was appointed delegate to - file Dominion conference to be held in Wellington next month. Air R. Miller, National Party organiser for the Alanawatu, was present by invitation and gave a short but interesting address on the dangers of Socialism and Communism.
