Flying-Officer Allan Bayliss, of Russell Street, has returned to Palmcrston North. He was squadron technical officer and officer commanding an overseas unit in the Solomon Islands group, and later officer commanding units within the Dominion. He has now been transferred to the Reserve of Officers
The news of .the death of Mr Norman A. Malcolm, of Campbell Street, Feilding, has come as a painful surprise to his friends in the Feilding district, where he had resided for many years. Mr Malcolm was a teacher at the Agricultural High School and an enthusiast in horticulture. He was keenly interested in the activities at the Community Centre and the general welfare of the town. His untimely passing at the age of 49 years deprives the community of v an educationist, worker, and friend. Mr Malcolm was ill only a short while. Several years ago his health was seriously weakened by a major illness. He is survived by his wife and four children.
