AMERICAN LANDING
ON NEW GUINEA COAST north. of .’finschhafen LONDON, Jan. 2. The Americans have made a new landing in New Guinea at a place 50 miles north of Finschhafen. They have captured a harbour and airfield there.
Before the landing the area was heavily attacked from the air and over 200 toils of bombs were dropped. There was little resistance to the landing, which was effected without loss to the Americans. It will assist in the work of driving the Japanese out of the Huon Peninsula where they are now threatened on three sides.
