G. Wade (Wellington) beat J. L. Hardy (Wellington). Round six: Hardy lost to A. W. Gyles (Wellington); L. J. Darwin (Christchurch) beat Wade; F. K. Rolling lost to J. D. Steele (Wellington) ; T. Lepviikmann (Wellington) lost to E. H. Sevcrne; K. Beyer (Wellington) beat H. McNabb (Wellington). Round seven: McNabb beat Hardy; I Wade beat Kelling j Gyles drew with * Darwin ; Steele lost to Lepviikman. Severne now has four and a-half wins out of five (two games unfinished); Lepviikmann has five and a-half out of seven, while Steele and Gyles each have four and a-half out of seven. Major Open.—Round Six: B. Wood (Wellington) beat W. A. Pearse (Timaru) ; J. K. L. Webling (Wellington) lost to Mrs T. G. Short (Auckland); N. T Fletcher (Wellington) lost to N. S. Henderson (Wellington); H. I. Christensen (Palmerston North) lost to Fairburn. Round Seven: Wood beat Christensen; W J. Fairburn (Wellington) lost to Dr. E. Meyer (Auckland); L. Gneiss (Wellington’) drew with Fletcher; Henderson drew with Miss A. R. Hollis (Auckland); Mrs Short beat A. Summers (Palmerston North); Pearse lost to Webling. Round Eight: Christensen beat Mrs Short; Dr. Mevcr beat Wood; Fletcher drew with Fairburn; Miss Hollis lost to Gneiss; Webling beat Henderson; Summeis lost, to Pearse; Dr. Meyer now has six and a-half wins and Wood and Webling each have five.
