MEN FOR FREEZING WORKS
(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 28. Direction into the freezing industry of men liable to immediate military service is being undertaken by the Taranaki District Manpower Officer in accordance -with instructions from the War Cabinet. The policy adopted in an attempt to furnish the industry with sufficient labour to imeet the demand of the peak killing period, is that it is better to direct into the industry men, at present in civil life w T ho are liable to immediate military service, than to withdraw men from the Army because of the disorganisation caused by the latter course. The men directed will undertake whatever work is allocated by the management and receive award rates. They will be transported to and ,from work, a charge being made.
