SOLDIERS’ NEWSPAPER
(Rec. 9.5) MELBOURNE, Dec 26. The Australian Army’s New Guinea newspaper Guinea Gold is produced with the help of natives. It is a four-page paper of modern layout, and it is delivered free to front line troops by plane. Its native staff is mission educated and can read and write and has had some printing experience in the Papuan Government Printing Office. Only five weeks old, the Guinea Gold is tremendously popular and is to be expanded in tlie - New Year by the issue of a, special American edition. It is edited by Major It. B. Leonard, former Melbourne Herald war correspondent and now a member of the A.I.F.
