denies Colonel Knox’s .statement
that 25 per cent, of the French naval vessels in Toulon escaped destruction, says tlie Times French frontier correspondent. All the battleships, cruisers, destroyers and submarines were sunk except four submarines which escaped, also two obsolete des-
troyers. A number of smaller vessels admittedly were not sunk and the French naval authorities also foiled tho Gestapo plan to seize the fort by transferring tho equipment from the arsenal to the ship: tinder cover of darkness and dismantled the heavy guns at the outer forts.
