WORLD WEEK OF PRAYER
Owing to adverse weather conditions yesterday morning the Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.-C.A. sunrise service, which" was Tx> have been held in the Squaro to make the opening of tho World Week of Prnyer( was cancelled. Miss M. Grcenwell (general secretary of tho Palmerston North branch of tho Y.W.C.A.) conducted an impressivo service at the Y.M.C.A. rooms instead, and she was assisted by Mrs C. A. Small (president). Miss Greenwell spoke of the World Association’s work in wartime to show tho factors that made it possible for the international aspect of the Y.M.-Y.W.C.A. to bo a reality and not a dream. Miss D. Langridgc (secretary of the members’ council) read a letter from Dr. J. R. Mott, world president of tho Y.M.C.A. The subject this week will he “I ho Enduring God,” with different aspects each day and different countries remembered. Mr K; Ross (Fcilding) delivered an inspiring address, taking as his text Psalm 90. Girl members of the Y.W.C.A. sang “The Searchers’ Song,” with Mr C. A. Small at flic piano, and appropriate hymns were sung by tho assembly. Mrs C. A. Small read a Litany which she had written.
