SOLDIERS LEAVE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —In answer to "Mother of Three", does this lady remember, at the time her husband entered camp, if she looked forward to seeing him at some week-ends? It would only be human to say she did. Well, we look forward to seeing our husbands at some week-ends. They, too, will soon be overseas and we _ will know the worry of our men in danger. Can we not sec as much as possible of them now? "We may never sec them again, and each week-end is precious. Yes, there is something, to fight for, but remember, "Mother of Three", you saw your husband at some week-ends before he went away, and we want to sec our husbands also. —I am, etc., ANOTHER MOTHER OF TWO.

(To the Editor.) | Sir, —I would like to add my protest to those which have already appeared in your paper concerning the cancellation of week-end leave, particularly as regards Grade 1 men training for overseas service.. Many of these, men are in camps hundreds of miles from homo The latest edict from the Minister of Defence means that these men are to be deprived of the right to see their wives and families once a month. If there were real cause for this sacrifice I am sure we would all bear it gladly, but, sir, from the reasons advanced by the Minister of Defence that does not seem to be the case, for race trains can still be run, and apparently the members-of the Air Force are not included i.n the latest restrictions. Also, I would like to ask whether it is not a fact that an Army football team has been able to tour the country. Surely this must have interfered with the training of the ones concerned. Finally, I should like to ask Mr Jones if we can be sure of our men receiving final leave, as from my own experience I know of some who were sent on service without final leave or a glimpse of home from the time they entered camp, and we do pot want a repetition of that bitter experience. Trusting that our protests will be sufficiently vigorous to obtain'a repeal of the latest orders. —I am, etc., YET ANOTHER. WIFE.
