M.L.C. APPEALS FOR SON

AUCKLAND, Mar. 25. The opinion that the appellant wa,v not setting the right example by keeping his son back if he could arrange to release him from military duties was expressed by Mr A. Hayward, of the Hamilton Man-Power Committee, when Hon. J. E. Duncan, M.L.C, Wharepuhunga., appealed for exemption for his soil.

It was submitted on behalf of appellant that the son was managing a farm of 833 acres which carried 45 dairy cows, 60 run cattle, 950 sheep, and 700 lambs. It was stated that a boy previously employed had left. Mr Hayward said he was not satisfied. He asked if it was necessary for Mr Duncan to go to Wellington. With married men with families being called up he did not think adjournments of single men's, appeals should be granted.
