The three days' total is £483,705 with two of to-day's returns not to hand and these two arc estimated to produce £6OOO in all. The competitive spirit between the cities and towns is becoming keener. The various districts raised the following sums to-day: Auckland. £81,474; Wellington, £21.257; Christchurch, £29,036; Dunedin, £7525; Hamilton, £17.735; Timaru, £46.19; Thames, £5412; Westport. £856; Jnvercargill, £11.445; AYanganui, £13.241; New Plymouth, £7259; Napier. £11.808; Palmerston North, £13,500; Nelson, £5450; Gisbornc, £4103; Blenheim. £2966.

In three days £5284 has been collected in Pahfatua. This district has set out to raise £IO,OOO, representing £3 a head.
