LOSSES OF NAZI PLANES
HEAVY TOLL TAKEN
(United Press Association —Copyright.) RUGBY, Mar. “4, A Russian communique states that 20 enemy aircraft were destroyed on Sunday compared with the loss of 11 Red planes. Three Germans planes wore shot down near Moscow. For the week ended March 2L the Germans lost 249 aircraft and the Russians 77. Un the Leningrad front the Russians are continuing their advance and in the last two days killed 1800 of the enemy. Further south on the Kalinin front the enemy were dislodged from two strong-points after fierce fighting. Two hundred of the enemy were killed. The enemy were also thrown out of two points on the southern front, where German counter-attacks supported by tanks were repelled with heavy enemy losses. In a sector on the Kalinin front five Soviet planes covered the offensive operations of their troops. They met 22 German bombers and eight German fighters. The Red pilots attacked and .destroyed seven enemy planes. A Russian convoy with reinforcements is reported to have entered Sel»astono] harbour.
The Soviet newspaper Red Star declares that the present Soviet superiority in the air is because a large part of the German air force is fully engage,-] over the Mediterranean.
