On Thursday next at Woodvilie, school football will be plnvcd by learns representing llio Woodvilie District High School and Dumieyirkc Convent School. As a mailt oi t.lic trial games at Danncvirke on Saturday, six hoys and five girls of the Woodvillc School were chosen to take part in further trials of football and basketball to take place at Danncvirke to-morrow. The object of these tests is to select tho best teams po-rihlo to represent this area in a big carnival to take place at Napier in the near future. About SO boys took part in the trials on Saturday, ana the final selection will he made to-morrow.

East Friday afternoon the Woodville School routine was agreeably interrupted 10 make place for a function which no doubt will remain a pleasant memory to all present and which should also take an honoured place iu the school records. Mules, N.Z.M.C., visited the school to receive a welcome home from the assembled pupils and staff, on whose behalf an appropriate address of welcome wan tendered to the guest of honour by the headmaster (Mr W. J. Henderson. M.A.). The function took on a dual character when the opportunity was taken by the Mayor (Mr 11. R. Johnston) to extend to Captain Mules, a cordial welcome by the School Committee and parent/?, this being supported by Rev. B. P. Williams.
