DERATING SOCIETY.

The Palmerston NOH.II Debating Society belli a mooting on Monday night. 'I lie first part of (he mooting consisted of impromptu speeches, when the following took part/; Mrs J. Walker, “Communism”; Mrs K. Dean, “General Kleetion”; Mr C. Taylor. “Partv Politics”; Mr F. Stewart, “Patriotic Art, Unions”; Mr G. Pratt, “Enemy Invasion.” Mrs Walker and Mr Stewart were adjudged the host speakers. The main debate was “The Development of Secondary Industries.” The speakers were Messrs 11. G. Mills, 11. King, T. Watson, C. Taylor and L. Crawford. The debate was won by the affirmative. The best speaker was Mr Mills. Mr L. Sinclair was adjudicator. A challenge debate with Massey College is to bo held in September.
