With a record entry of 73 competitors the New Zealand 14-bird trapshooting championship was held at Longhands, Hastings. Three competitors recorded the possible and A. -Stead (Hastings) won the shoot-off. R. E. Guthbertson (Wanganui) was second and R. S. Taylor (Christchurch) third. In connection with the defacing of the bronze tablet of the Sandon Old ; Boys’ Association memorial on Mt. Stewart, it is learned that 200 letiters which are screwed on to the tablet have to be removed after the tablet is cut out of the concrete base, in order to have repairs effected. As the tablet has to be sent to Wellington 1 for repairs, considerable expenses will bo entailed.
