EXTRACT'S FROM '‘STANDARD.” JULY 21, 1911.

Many thousands had lined the route from Holyrood to St. Giles’s Cathedral to watch the procession of King George V on his way to open the Chapel o| the Thistle. Another terrible train smash had occurred in the United States. An express had crashed through a bridge near Avant (Oklahoma) and bad rolled 50ft down a bank into a river. The death roll was Heavy. Five thousand dockers at Cardiff had gono on strike in support of the seamen. Rioting had broken out again and many of London's mounted constabulary had been sent to keep order. A London message stated that the Robuck, a Channel mail streamer, had been wrecked off Jersey Island in a fog. Although the boat sank quickly the 140 passengers were rescued and the mails saved.
