Mrs R. L. C. Aitchison, of Victoria Avenue, who is an inmate of a private hospital in Wellington, is progressing favourably, although it will be several weeks before she can return home.

At the conclusion of tho monthly meeting of the Palmerston .North branch of the Plunket Society, last week, members of the committee entertained the president (Mrs G. C. I’etersen) and the secretary (Mrs M. Aitchison) at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s in appreciation of their valued services to tho branch. At the age of 08, tho death has occurred in Auckland of Airs Bertha McRae, who, with her husband, was a pioneer settlor in Alarlborougli. Three years ago Mrs Mcßae made tier first aeroplane flight, when she travelled to Palmerston North. Mrs Mcßae's father Was Captain Richard Scott, whose brig Spray was trading across the Tasman a century ago. Airs Mcßae was 18 years old when her family settled at Nelson. At 1(3 she was married to Mr Philip Roderick Mcßae, and they lived at Aiarlborough for about 25 years After the death of her husband. Airs Mcßae lived at Palmerston North lor a number of years. She is survived by a sou and daughter. The P.D.C. ballroom, with its prettily draped windows and soft lights, made an ideal setting for a very pleasant function in the lorm el a gift evening in honour of Aliss Whitnnli and Air Al. Creighton, prior to their marriage, last week. A professional orchestra supplied the music. Air Page, who was At.C., called on the young couple to open and accept many parcels containing Loth useful and costly gilts, which u\stilied to their popularity. Mr Creighton thanked all concerned, including his orchestra ; tor their kind thoughts and good wishes, and especially his parents, who had arranged the gathering. Friends numbering 180 were present from Ftilding. Alasterton, Stratford, Wanganui, and the surrounding districts.
