Mrs X. A. Ashley, of Palmerston North, is visiting Auckland. Mr and Mrs A. J. lierryman, ol Victoria Avenue, accompanied by their daughter, Mrs J. I l '. Crane, arc spending a holiday in Napier. Proposals having been made that a fund should be raised to re-equip New Zealand army nurses who lost their personal belongings in Greece, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr J. A. C. Allum) has made inquiries and finds that the National Patriotic Fund Board remitted £2OO to Egypt specially for this purpose. The sum was additional to the £15,000 at the'disposal of, the board’s commissioner in Kgypt, Lieut.-Colonel F. Waite, J or the replacement of effects lost by oflicers and soldiers.

At the request of the Parents’ Association and subject to the approval of the board. Miss K. E. Stephens, principal of Palmerston North Girls’ High School, reported at last night’s meeting of flic board that she was investigating the possibility of taking a party of girls to Tongariro National Park for the last week-end of 1 his term. The exile uses lor each girl, lor three days, would be about £ll, and if parents felt they were prepared to pay this, it might provide an opportunity tor some of the girls to sec one of the loveliest parts of New Zealand less expensively than they could after they had left school, and perhaps even more enjoyably.
