FARM LABOUR.
(Press Assn.) DLNEDIN. July 10. A suggestion that to meet farmers' seasonal labour requirements affected by the war country schools might close for the holidays, about December 1 to allow bigger hoys to assist in operations came before the Education Board to-day.
The chairman (Air Wallace) suggested that the department he asked to approve of an amendment to the regulations that, where pupils are employed in essential labour, they should !«; marked present on the roll This would obviate the loss of roll numbers with the possible loss of the teaching staff. Any Fifth or Sixth Standard pupils required might be granted a dispensation bv the headmaster It was decided to "suggest this to the department.
