BOMB HAVOC

MEDICINE FOR NAZIS.

MORE GREAT RAIDS

(United Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 a.m.) RUGBY, July 15. Mr Churchill's statement, yesterday, that in the last few weeks alone we have dropped on Germany about half the whole weight of bombs dropped on our own cities siuce the war began is noted in the Press with certain grim satisfaction, primarily due lo the clear revelation the statement provides of the enormously increased striking power of the R.A.I?.

The. Manchester Guardian says: "As moral beings we have, one supposes, no right to feel fj;lad the Germans are at lasting tasting their own terrible medicine, but as combatants in a merciless war wc can rejoice that our country's strength is rising sufficiently for us to take the offensive." As for the material damage caused to the enemy, says the Times, undoubtedly it has been great and the German radio lias been compelled to issue excuses to the civil population for the apparent lack of adequate protection of their personal property.

An Air Ministey communique says the industrial areas of Bremen and Hanover were heavily attacked by It.A.F. bombers last night. Many tons of heavy high-explosive bombs and thousands of incendiaries were dropped on both cities and extensive fires were caused.

Considerable damage was done to the docks at Bremen and among the industrial buildings of Hanover. Several other targets in North-West Germany were also bombed. A smaller force attacked the docks at Rotterdam.

Five of our aircraft are missing. It is now known that during the operations on Sunday night bombers shot down an enemy fighter.—Official Wireless.
